Taught by experienced instructors, the JYC course provides practical and relevant training for anyone involved in junior teen’s ministry. Particular attention is given to the organisation and running of Junior Youth Challenge groups – a CEF ministry which is designed to continue the contact with young teens who no longer attend Good News Club (a neighbourhood Bible club for children, 5-10 year olds).
The course can be taught as a one week residential course, as modules divided up over a number of weekends or one evening a week over a period of 8-10 weeks.
Subjects taught include: the qualifications of a JYC leader, characteristics of the junior teen, building friendships with teens, looking at various aspects of teen culture, how to build a Bible study, teaching methods, how to use CEF teens teaching materials, organising teen camps etc.
